Question of the Day: 2/26/25

QotD is a feature dedicated to answering questions from Piccadilly’s 5 Year Question a Day Memory Journal. The journal states its purpose is to help reflect back on daily routine and to act as a “time capsule” of experiences. As someone who laments their awful memory, I thought this was a wonderful tool and opportunity.

What is something you’re learning to love?

This question is just absolutely begging for me to say myself. And while that wouldn’t be wrong, it’s a too cliché for my current mood.

So if I had to choose something else, I would say my house.

My partner, Slade, and I bought our house for a specific reason and that is that the second floor resembles a studio apartment. We fell in love and wanted to use that space as our personal space with both our bedroom and workshop in one space rather than spread out in different rooms. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out that way as the second floor is not only impossible t o climate control due to inadequate insulation, but we cannot have everything we need plugged into the power outlets without blowing a fuse.

It didn’t help that Slade also injured his back and both Slade and our dogs cannot handle the stairs to the second floor at this time. Because of this, we are kind of left on the first floor with the second being mainly used for storage.

It has taken me a long time to get the house set up to a point where it doesn’t stress me out or frustrate me. I am comfortable with the layout and setup and am actually starting to love the space and the comfort it brings me.

It’s still a work in progress but I truly love my sanctuary.
