Write about your dream home.
Anywhere my partner is.
At this point, Slade and I have been together 12 years. Over the years we’ve moved A LOT. When I say a lot, I mean we moved at least 10 times a piece during our relationship. We have had some decent dwellings as well as some garbage ones. The worst were typically shared with roommates.
Now that we bought a house, I find that the best kind of home is one where you’re at peace. Between Slade and our animals, I think we have a good routine down where we finally are at peace. No more landlords to gaslight us about scamming us. No more roommates that disrespect us and our home. And no more broken expectations.
Now if you’re talking about my dream house in the physical sense, that’s a bit different. I want a home that’s easily climate controlled that has a large bay window for my cats and I to sit in. A one story with no basement because I rescue too many things that can’t handle stairs, including Slade, and I am terrified of modern architecture collapsing underneath me. I would live for enough storage apace, particularly for a craft room I can keep separate from my animals. And maybe somewhere I can showcase by books and art…
And lastly, far enough away from people that I am not on top of my neighbors but not far away from modern conveniences like the grocery store.
Ultimately I have found, however, that it is much easier to make a home when you’re with the one you love. Even if it’s not perfect, you can make it perfect for you.
Although to be fair, Slade and I are not picky by any means.
