QotD is a feature dedicated to answering questions from Piccadilly’s 5 Year Question a Day Memory Journal. The journal states its purpose is to help reflect back on daily routine and to act as a “time capsule” of experiences. As someone who laments their awful memory, I thought this was a wonderful tool and opportunity.
What gets you up in the morning?
Would it be a cop-out to say work?
In all seriousness, this question is a bit rough because during my depressive episodes the only things that get me out of bed are my partner and animals (and work obviously.) My partner is so patient with me, but I don’t want to inconvenience them. My animals also cannot take care of themselves, so they are great motivation to get out bed when I don’t feel I have any other reason.
That being said, I haven’t had one of the episodes in months. So I guess my answer would be because it’s simply time to get up and I want to be with my household.
