Quotes I Live By

Do you have a quote you live your life by or think of often?

I wasn’t going to do a second prompt this week, but this one is just too good to pass up. There are actually many quotes I live by, though none of them are particularly original or innovative on my part.

The first two that are prevalent in my mind are “why not” and “why not both(all)?” Many times, people seem to focus more on the why, rather than the why not? Very few things are without their cons, but often, the pros far outweigh them. I also feel we live in a society that so often says we must pick one option, when in reality, there’s no rule that says we must. On one hand, I understand the need for moderation. However, as a grown adult, I can safely say I’m allowed to pick more than one option.

That being said, the key quotes I live by are “why do it later when I can do it now?” as well as “the sooner it gets done, the sooner it’s done.” One of the most important lessons I have learned as I’ve grown older is to be kind to future me. I never know what the next day will bring, so I base many decisions and behaviors on that. That’s not to say that I stress about situations that haven’t come to pass. But if the dishes need done, I will do them at the first chance I get. Not only will they no longer be hanging over my head, but it frees up time for me to do other things. Like things I actually want to.
